Dream Your Life Away: Listen to Lana Del Rey’s darkly romantic new single ‘Honeymoon’

“We both know that it’s not fashionable to love me.”

That’s how Lana Del Rey begins new song “Honeymoon,” the title track to (and first single from) the singer’s upcoming full-length album, expected later this year. There’s probably no more appropriate (and ironic) way for Del Rey to re-introduce herself to audiences, after both the success of 2014’s Ultraviolence LP and this year’s Endless Summer Tour with Grimes and Courtney Love, which just wrapped up last month.

With all that in the rear-view, now begins the cycle for Album Number 3, and it’s good to see Del Rey hasn’t strayed from the love-damaged cinematic pop stylings of last year’s brilliant record. The song is sparse and moody, and typically Del Rey in that it feels old and new at the same time.

And where is her head at, these days? “Living in the land of Honeymoons & Oil Tycoons,” Del Rey posted on July 9. “God Bless America, the land of pink champagne & purple rain.”

We almost wish we had this on Independence Day. Listen to “Honeymoon” below, and start to dream away your life…
