GoFundMe established for Erin Dalbec of the Beatings, who is hospitalized in Turkey

Frightening news to pass along this afternoon as Erin Dalbec, bassist of Boston rock band the Beatings, has been hospitalized while traveling through Turkey. Her Beatings bandmate Cameron Keiber tells Vanyaland that Dalbec will be forced to remain in an Istanbul hospital, where she is accompanied by her husband, Rob Dulaney, for a minimum of 10 days.

A GoFundMe has been established to help the rising medical costs faced by Dalbec and Dulaney, with a fund raiser goal of $10,000. Last night on social media, Dalbec posted that she was “having cluster headaches” and well as “stabbing head pain, dizziness, sweating.”

The hospital does not accept American insurance.

Here’s word from Dulaney via GoFundMe: “Official diagnosis is tearing in the right vertabral artery and acute infarction in the postlateral segment of the medulla oblongata(4-5mm). It’s not good. We have to now stay a minimum of 10 days for this to start to repair. Surgery will not help they say. She is under close supervision and is being administered blood thinners. The hospital staff is amazing. The doctor speaks very good english which is rare in the hospital. I’m not sure how we’re going to do this but we will be here in Istanbul for at least the next 10 days”

And here is the direct link to the GoFundMe page, which will be updated as more information is relayed:
