Leaders of Men & Women: Stream Faith No More’s first album in 18 years, ‘Sol Invictus’

It’s a beautiful thing when reunions evolve into the actual return of a band to full-time duty. Six years after Faith No More first came back onto the scene, the influential Bay Area rock group returns to Boston tonight, a week before the release of scorching new record Sol Invictus.

And if you didn’t score tickets to tonight’s very sold-out show at the Orpheum Theatre, fear not: Faith No More will be back in town on August 4, when they play the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion with Refused.

Sol Invictus is Faith No More’s first LP since 1997’s Album Of The Year, and rings true just as second track “Superhero” blasts into form. The album was recorded in the band’s own studio in Oakland, California, and is our tomorrow via their own imprint, Reclamation Records, with distro by frontman Mike Patton’s label, Ipecac Recordings.

Stream Sol Invictus below via NPR, or click through to the NME’s Soundcloud embed.
