We’re just about at the point where it’s boring to merely tell you that Elle King is the daughter of actor/comedian Rob Schneider. It’s a cool little bit of trivia, and a fun anecdote that’s guaranteed a “Oh shit, no way?!?” from whomever you tell.
But while the identify of her father generates the usual “Oh shit” reaction, her music has been cause of more than a few declarations of “Holy shit!”
King’s sassy breakout single “Ex’s & Oh’s” is one of the best tracks of 2015 (by now you’ve surely heard it many times on VanyaRadio), and now the 25-year-old singer is ready to take it out on the road, announcing a North American tour that hits the Sinclair in Cambridge on July 21.
The tour, announced today, officially starts June 1 in Montreal, but King is pairing up with James Bay for two West Coast dates this week (May 12 at the Independent in San Francisco and the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on May 14) and plays Hangout Fest in Alabama on Saturday. Her summer festival slate is heavy, with appearances at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Canada’s Squamish Valley Music Festival.
