Biloxi Blues: Afroman arrested after punching female fan in the face during concert

UPDATE February 18, 1:55 p.m. EST: Afroman has apologized via social media: I apologize for my actions. I will be making a full formal apology and excepting full responsibility for my actions. I will address everything today on TMZ at 2 o’clock eastern time.

Cue all the jokes about getting high, because Afroman was arrested tonight after allegedly punching a female fan during his live performance in Biloxi, Mississippi. TMZ has video of the brutal assault, embedded below.

The rapper, mostly known for his Grammy-nominated 2001 hit “Because I Got High,” decked the woman after she appeared to come up on stage.

Via TMZ: “…he turned and landed a right-handed haymaker to her face. The woman went down hard — and even though she was bleeding and crying … we’re told Afroman kept on performing until the house lights came on and the music stopped.

Afroman, whose real name is Joseph Edgar Foreman, was handcuffed outside the venue and taken away.

The musician’s rep tells Billboard that Afroman “was surprised by the person onstage, his back was turned and he didn’t see her and reacted with the punch.” The rep says lack of security at the venue was an issue, and adds: “This was a completely involuntary reflex reaction to people infringing on his stage space. It was uncharacteristic behavior that was initiated by outside uncontrolled forces.”

Damn.
