Are You Joking?: Louis C.K. just announced three shows in Somerville this weekend

The upcoming weekend just go a whole lot funnier, and fast: Louis C.K. has apparently just announced three shows at the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square.

The Newton-raised comedian will perform two shows on Saturday (7:30 p.m., and 10 p.m.) and one on Sunday (7:30 p.m.). All tickets are priced at $30.

Word is CK revealed the info on his mailing list this afternoon, and word spread like wild fire on social media.

There’s no word of the shows on the Somerville Theatre website, so let’s hope this isn’t a cruel joke. The comedian apparently deleted his own Twitter account earlier this month after posting a tirade against ISIS, and there’s nothing other than the ticket links and rumors of a mailing list notification (admission: we are subscribed to it) to back the shows up.

But people seem to be buying them up, so it seems legit.

Still kinda weird though. UPDATE 3:41 p.m. EST: We’re told it’s legit as can be, but it now also looks sold out, so hopefully you all acted on this.

UPDATE 4:49 p.m. EST: Apparently a fourth show, Sunday at 10 p.m., could be added shortly. And here’s the message that Louis C.K. sent out to his mailer, which sparked this madness:

“Hello. Louis CK here. You are getting this because a. you bought something from my website and b. you live somewhere around Somerville, Mass. C. I’m doing 3 shows at the Somerville Theater this weekend (November 22nd and 23rd) 2 shows on Saturday and 1 show on Sunday. Please go to one of these shows. Here are links to buy tickets… that’s it really. Except I hope you are doing ok. Stay warm. Wear a sweater.”

Hat tip to Brad Searles of Bradley’s Almanac for being on top of this shit.
