Thank You Based Scholar: Rapper Lil’ B will ‘lecture’ at Massachusetts Institute of Technology

MIT is gonna get its B on.

Rapper Lil’ B revealed last night via Twitter that he will be giving a guest lecture at Massachusetts Institute of Technology on November 21.

There hasn’t been any official announcement from the school just yet, but as news hit Reddit last night, one person gave some insight: “I actually think you can get in for free. So far there hasn’t been an email out to campus announcing tickets or lottery. I would seem that this is a public event and anyone can come.”

Lil’ B spoke at New York University two years ago, so speaking in the forums of higher education is nothing new for the West Coast performer.

Stay tuned.

Here’s Lil’ B’s announcement below. For a great primer on the rapper, read his batshit crazy 2011 interview with the Boston Phoenix, where he would only speak to the alt-weekly if we (I was music editor at the time) promised to put him on the cover (we didn’t). “I love Boston,” he told the Phoenix. “I love you guys. Thank you for rocking with me. Bostonian for life. Beantown, baby. Bean everything. You know what I mean? I got love for the Celtics all day. And I thank you and your beautiful paper for putting me on the cover. And embracing my music and this is going to be one of the most collectible and rare covers ever. I love you guys.”
