This is the second in a week-long series of spotlights on the bands and artists performing at our CMJ party with Berklee College of Music this Friday, October 24 at Carroll Place in New York City. Seven Berklee-affiliated acts will participate in Boston & Beyond, an official CMJ Music Marathon showcase that is free to badgeholders and open to the general public. Los Rumberos De Massachusetts, 11 p.m. set time
Los Rumberos de Massachusetts are so infectious, it’s damn near impossible to party with them just once. So the Boston-born, Mexican-raised trio are back with us for CMJ after turning our SXSW party tent into one full-on dance party back in March.
It’s definitely no secret that Los Rumberos are way outside our normal demographic — they have no electro-pop remixes to offer, sorry — but we are still thrilled to live it up with them this Friday in New York.
Writes CMJ about the 2013 Boston Music Awards winner for International Artist of the Year: “The hottest Latino band in Massachusetts will make you dance before you even realize it! These mexa/bostonians have been selling out coliseums, miscellaneous fundraising events and sketchy parties all around the planet. Light the fire and feel the desire with the RUMBA.”

Showcasing the talents of Angel Cespedes (guitarra/voz), Lito de la Isla (guitarra/voz), and Paul Sefchovich (percusión/voz), Los Rumberos blend styles of rumba, huapango, rock Latino, and blues in a crash-course of lively international sounds. Whether they are playing a small club in Boston or a music festival in Mexico, they bring the same passion and enthusiasm to each appearance.
