What The Elle: Pharrell apologies for wearing Indian headdress on UK magazine cover

It’s been a banner week for public apologies. First it was Justin Bieber saying “sorry” for leaked videos of him making racists jokes when he was 15; then it was actor Jonah Hill apologizing for using a homophobic slur at a paparazzo; and then that crazy lady in Upstate New York who berated a black man with the n-word outside a Dollar General has issued an apolo — oops, nevermind, no she didn’t.

Anyway, Pharrell has apologized for showing up in a sacred Indian headdress on the cover of Elle UK. Twitter users even started the hashtag #nothappy, and people got pretty worked up over it.

So Pharrell spoke out via Buzzfeed.

“I respect and honor every kind of race, background and culture,” Pharrell said in a statement yesterday. “I am genuinely sorry.”
