Most people, including us, have already conceded Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX’s “Fancy” as the undisputed Summer Jam 2k14. But as Iggy and Charli move on to hype other songs — “Problem” with Ariana Grande, and “Boom Clap,” respectively — “Fancy” might be running out of steam as we creep into June. After all, we’ve been spinning it on the reg since February.
Another jam tipping over the hot scales was released back in February, but it only now is starting to crash stateside shores: Kiesza’s classic house-inspired tune “Hideaway,” which has generated nearly 23 million views on YouTube.
That’s a lot of plays.
The 25-year-old Canadian singer’s debut is a smash hit in England, where most of those views are likely coming from. We know very little about her, other than that she used to be in the Navy, was once a ballerina, hails from Calgary, considers Kelly Kapowski a style icon, and has already topped the charts in the UK.
Check out the “Hideaway” video below, which was shot in New York City. We get the feeling this song will be everywhere very soon. It probably already is.
