Synth Popped: Magic Man announce new LP, unveil striking cover art, prep for Boston Calling

It might just be the homer in us talking, but one of the bands we’re most excited to see next weekend at Boston Calling is Magic Man. The homegrown synth-pop band, whose bubbly hit “Paris” is in regular rotation up there on Vanya Radio, has made great strides in recent years, and 2014 is shaping up to be a breakout year.

Now after a successful run at SXSW and getting international love on XFM’s Import Export with Ian Camfield and KROQ’s Kat Corbett, Magic Man has unleashed the details on their new album: Before the Waves drops July 8 via Columbia, with pre-orders starting this Monday.

They also unveiled the very-pretty cover art, which you can check out below.

Magic Man plays Boston Calling on Saturday, May 24 at City Hall Plaza, kicking off a full day that includes performances by Death Cab For Cutie, the Decemberists, Maximo Park, Jenny Lewis, Warpaint, and others. It’s already sold out.
