Report: At least two people killed and 13 injured at SXSW after motorist plows into pedestrians

Two people were killed and at least 13 injured when a car plowed into pedestrian traffic early Thursday morning at SXSW. The Austin-Travis Country twitter feed is confirming the aftermath of the accident, which happened outside the Mohawk at Red River Street and East 10th Street around 12:30 a.m. local time.

UPDATE: The Austin Police Dept. confirms that 23 people have been transported from the scene.

Tyler the Creator, X, and the Black Angels were scheduled to perform Wednesday night at the Mohawk as part of a House of Vans party.

Tonight is the first night of the music portion of SXSW, which attracts tens of thousands of visitors to the Texas capital. Many of the streets around the 6th Street are closed off to vehicle traffic to allow for the overflow of music fans.

The area around the Mohawk is currently closed off and is being treated as a crime scene, according to witnesses.
