Musical Group-on: Here are the Rock And Roll Rumble preliminary round match-ups

Last week we learned which 24 bands would participate in next month’s 35th annual Rock And Roll Rumble — and tonight we found out who they’ll all face off against. The preliminary-round groupings were announced tonight on Anngelle Wood’s Boston Emissions show on WZLX 100.7 FM, and well… it’s just as wide open as it was a week ago.

If there’s any so-called Group Of Death — borrowing from the World Cup’s slang term for toughest division — it would be… uhhhh. Yeah. There really isn’t any one night that jumps off the page more than the others, because all six preliminary nights are damn-near impossible to predict. You can make a case for pretty much each of the 24 bands, and we can’t remember when the last time that happened.

Check it out for yourself via each band’s Bandcamp and page link below, organized by their nights for easy show-by-show action.

And remember, kids: there’s one winner for each night, with two wild cards (one from the first three nights, a second from the final three) moving on to the semis, going down April 17 and 18 at T.T. The Bear’s Place in Cambridge, the Rumble’s home base.
