Flipping the dark light switch: Listen to Andre Obin’s remix of People At Parties’ ‘Mazes’

There’s been a lot of remix talk surrounding Andre Obin lately. Tonight at the Middle East, the celebrated electronic music producer is releasing a remix EP of this year’ Arsonist LP, with re-imagined tracks from Steve Bug, K-X-P, T.H. White, Artisan Loyalist and Black Asteroid. (Grab it off iTunes here.)

But while others have been busy bringing Obin’s simmering electronic pop to different sonic dimensions, he himself has been working on others’ material as well. Brooklyn electro trio People At Parties are one of our favorite acts on the current circuit, and in advance of their debut LP dropping next week, Obin has unleashed his remix of “Mazes.”

It’s a tumbling synth number with some loose wires at the edges, and seamlessly merges Obin’s crafty style with People At Parties’ haunting 3am batcave electro.

Check it out below, hit up the Mid East tonight (it’s a solid dance-centric bill featuring Chrome Sparks, GMGN, and Scroll, and keep it locked to Vanyaland next week for an in-depth look at the new People At Parties record.
