Watch Sky Ferreira and DIIV cover Cat Power …right after she and Zachary Cole Smith were arrested on drug charges

Young love, drugs, and Upstate New York is a combination that rarely ends well.

On Friday night, Sky Ferreira and DIIV frontman Zachary Cole Smith were arrested on drug charges (she with Ecstasy, he with $420 worth of heroin) in Saugerties, NY, but were bailed out in time to play the BasilicaSoundScape music festival the next night. The young rock and roll power couple resurfaced on stage when Ferreira joined DIIV for a rendition of Cat Power’s “Nude As The News.”

We swear we didn’t make up that entire graph.

According to reports, local police spotted Smith’s truck after it made several vehicle ands traffic infractions. The plates on the truck were stolen and Smith had an outstanding traffic warrant. After a search, police found the drugs.

From Pitchfork, which is citing arrest records from Hudson Valley neewspaper The Daily Freeman:

Ferreira was arrested “on misdemeanor charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest,” while Smith was “charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession of stolen property and one count of aggravated unlicensed driving, all misdemeanors. He was also charged with the violations of unregistered motor vehicle, driving without insurance, unlicensed driver, and having an inadequate exhaust system,” according to the Daily Freeman.

The paper reports that Smith was found with a “plastic bag containing 42 decks of heroin,” while Ferreira “was found in possession of ecstasy and resisted arrest.”

The two were taken to Ulster County jail, and then released on bail.

Here are the two in happier times (but, uh, separately)…
