Watch ‘Tennis Court,’ the new video from New Zealand pop prodigy Lorde

On November 7, 1996, NASA launched the Mars Global Surveyor, and until now, that has remained probably the most noteworthy thing to happen on that particular day. Turns out it’s also the day Ella Yelich-O’Connor was born in Auckland, New Zealand.

Nearly two decades later, Yelich-O’Connor is better known in her home country as LORDE, a 16-year-old pop music prodigy who should be doused with fame from all over the globe. This week Lorde unveiled a new music video for her latest hit, “Tennis Court,” and it’s another follow up to March’s The Love Club EP, available digitally on July 2 along with other recent single “Swingin’ Party.” For those already craving more, The Tennis Court EP will be out in the UK on July 22.

In the meantime, we’re confronted with this video, which brings us face-to-face with Lorde as she sings about heading down to the tennis courts to “talk it up like yeah.” The track is a smooth electronic pop summer ballad that suggests pretty great things to come.

Check out the video above, and stream The Love Club EP below, which featured the hit “Royals,” via Soundcloud.
